Getting Started with CC

I am not a guide or tutorial writer, I am actually terrible at keeping things simple and straightforward as I have a tendency to ramble - however I have tried my best and outlined what you should know below. Hopefully it helps!
What You Need To Know First
Sims 4 can be a pretty boring game if you have no CC. Sadly, EA made this game with 0 substance and depth and it is up to the CC Community to really bring it to life. For the first few things you need to know about CC, I'll outline it here. If anything is confusing, please drop a comment or contact me! Firstly, depending on what system you are running Sims 4 on, you will need to know the paths to your Sims 4 Mods Folder. Windows: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods Mac: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods Generally, both paths are the same - meaning that you should be able to both find and install mods/cc into the Mods folder found directly in your My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 on both Windows and Mac. I only use PC and am not a Console player, therefore will not write a guide for Console. (I don't even think Console has CC???) If you do not have a Mods folder already within your Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder then you should create an Empty folder named "Mods".
Custom Content: Look for .package or .ts4script file names. CC can also be downloaded as .zip or .rar files.
Never download from Paid Sites - this is a very bad no no in the CC Community and is generally frowned upon, we call that Paywalled CC.
The Essentials To Downloading CC
You will need the following:
Winrar or Winzip or some variation thereof.
Categorized Folders within your Mods Folder or elsewhere for sorting mods.
-Believe me, you will want to sort mods/cc that you download because it is a trap and you will never stop downloading once you start!
Firefox or Chrome, preferably, if on Windows. But truly, any reliable browser will work.
I recommend Winrar, simply due to how easy it is to use. It's honestly Idiot Proof™️.

Step-By-Step Made Easy
Create and/or find your Mods folder in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4
Make sure you have Winrar or another similar program for unzipping files.
Once you find what you want to download, make sure it is either in a zip format or .package or .ts4script
Never download ts3 files for the Sims 4!! It will break your game.
ZIP files should be unzipped directly into the Mods folder if they are .package or .ts4script files.
For Example, my own CC is labeled [BEE]CC Name Here.package and should always be unzipped or placed directly within the Mods folder. You may, of course, sort them but never more than 2 folders deep!!
Download the CC that you want and follow Step 4.
If the CC you want includes Tray files, then please see the information to Installing Tray Files below.
Downloading and Installing Tray Files
Sometimes Mods or CC that you find and want to download, include what are called Tray Files and these files do not go into the Mods Folder.
Tray Files usually end in the following: .hhi, .sgi, .bpi, .trayitem, .blueprint, or .householdbinary
Sims 4 Tray Folder is usually found at this Path: My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray
Any CC that includes Tray files usually has directions on how to install them, however as a General Rule:
CC with Tray files are Zipped, with a Mods folder within.
Anything in the Mods folder of the Zip will be directly unzipped into your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods folder.
Other files that end in the above examples go directly into your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray folder.
Again -- Never unzip or install tray files in your Mods folder or vice versa!
